LOWER STEERING SHAFT REMOVAL (EPS)

CAUTION
Striking the steering wheel or steering shaft while
installed in the vehicle can permanently damage the
EPS unit and cause a power steering fault.
1. Remove the seat assembly.
2. Remove the plastic rivets and screws from the
footwell floorboard and front splash guard. Remove
both pieces from the vehicle.
3. Remove the winch cover panel from the front of the
vehicle.
4. Remove the lower steering shaft to EPS output shaft
pinch bolt and lock nut. Discard the lock nut.

5. Remove the lower steering shaft to steering rack
input shaft pinch bolt and lock nut. Discard the lock
nut.
6. Remove the steering rack mounting fastener nuts
from inside the vehicle. Remove the mounting bolts
from the front of the vehicle.
7. Use a paint pen to mark the installed location of the
steering shaft on the steering rack input shaft.
Remove the lower steering shaft from the vehicle.
