POWER STEERING UNIT (EPS) REMOVAL

CAUTION
Striking the steering wheel or steering shaft while
installed in the vehicle can permanently damage the
EPS unit and cause a power steering fault.
IMPORTANT
Electronic Power Steering (EPS) units are programmed
to be vehicle specific and are not interchangeable
between product lines.
1. Remove the pivot tube / steering wheel assembly
from the vehicle.
2. Remove the lower steering shaft to EPS output shaft
pinch bolt. Discard the lock nut.
3. Remove the four bolts that secure the EPS unit to the
base bracket. Lift the EPS unit up to remove the lower
steering shaft from the output shaft.

4. Remove the two fasteners and washers securing the
EPS unit to the right frame bracket.
5. Remove the two fasteners and washers securing the
EPS unit to the left side frame bracket.
6. Remove the EPS base bracket and EPS unit from the
vehicle.
