5.1 Installation
Defining the SNMP service security settings
You can use the SNMP service security settings to define whether to accept SNMP packets
from specified hosts only or from all hosts. To do so, all PCs to which you give monitoring
permission must be entered into a list.
Proceed as follows:
1. Depending on the version of your Windows operating system, open computer management
as follows:
– Windows 7:
– Windows 10:
2. Double-click on the "Services and Applications" entry.
3. Double-click on the "Services" entry.
4. Open the "SNMP Service" entry.
5. Select the "Security" tab.
6. You can select the option "Accept SNMP packets from any host" if you do not wish to restrict
access.
If you want to revoke access restrictions for specific PCs, enter the PCs which you want to
give monitoring permission into an exception list.
Note
If a firewall is active, ports 161 and 162 UDP (SNMP/SNMP trap) must be entered in the
exception list.
7. Close the dialog.
