Customizing your Hardware Setup

You may customize your hardware setup according to your desired system
performance. However, doing so requires resetting of several jumpers. The
onboard jumpers are normally set to its default setting.
section 2.2 for the location of the jumpers on the system board.
The following sections tell how to configure the system board to meet the
desired performance:

2.8.1 Selecting the DIMM Type

Set the jumpers JP8 and JP9 according
to the DIMM type that you wish to
support.
The AP5V board accepts
SDRAM, EDO, and FPM type DRAMs.
To install SDRAMs, leave both jumpers
open.
To install EDO/FPM DRAMs,
close pins 1-2, 3-4, and 5-6 of JP8 and
JP9.

2.8.2 Selecting the ECP DMA Channel

The
available
ECP
selections are 3 and 1.
DMA channel 3. To select DMA channel
1, reset jumpers JP10 and JP11 to 2-3.
