The Xicom TWTA Amplifier Digital M&C System is incorporated
into all Xicom XTD series amplifiers and provides a common
user interface for the entire line of Outdoor TWTA Power
Amplifiers. The M&C system can be accessed via a serial
remote control interface.
The amplifier may be configured as a single thread standalone
or a redundant system of two amplifiers. Refer to Redundant
Configuration Options.
The amplifier is controlled by a microprocessor that responds to
commands via the serial interface port (COM1 or COM2) of the
amplifier. The communication protocols for the remote control
serial interfaces are described in the Chapter titled Amplifier
Communication and Protocol.
The amplifiers can be configured as Single Thread, Redundant
1:1, Redundant 1:1 with load switch, or 1+1 with Soft Fail.
This is the single amplifier standalone mode. All the redundancy
functions have been disabled.
In a 1:1 Redundant configuration one amplifier monitors the
operation of the other amplifier. If the online amplifier faults the
backup amplifier will switch online. This automatic switching
requires that the backup amplifier be operational and in
automatic redundancy mode.
