I am just using the generic 1280x720 HDTV settings that are already included in
Powerstrip. I didn't do anything custom there. As far as the 3~4 pixels, lost on all sides,
you are actually loosing quite a few more. The 1184x666 settings are just embedding that
resolution into 1280x720 timings. Seems like everyone has about the same overscan
loosing the difference between 1280 and 1184 on each of the sides and 720 and 666 on
the top and bottom.
I use the 1280x720 when I am running full screen DVD (don't care about the overscan
loss here and want the maximum picture info going to the display). I use 1184x666 for all
my PC use through the GWII.
If only Sony hadn't screwed us and given us a digital path to the full Panel resolution I
would be a 100% GWII satisfied customer. As it is they only have me at 98% satisfaction
I would have even preferred if they had masked off the extra pixels on the panel and
given us just 1280x720 addressable pixel perfect pixels (since we really don't get the full
13xx-768 given the overscan issue.
