Anyway, some things that I have thought about trying are:
1. Choosing a different monitor driver. I just picked the SONY VMU-1000 at random. I
wonder if there is one that would work better, or if it doesn't really matter at all.
2. Choosing a different resolution. I only chose this one because Burble had some
numbers already for me to try. I think that the resolution could go a littler higher.
I would love for someone to try these 2 things and get back to me. Maybe if you are
setting this up for the first time, you can do some experimenting with these 2 things.
(9) PC Connection not successful with ATI 9700 Pro?
I had tried some other monitors and even made a custom monitor. The only difference I
can see between your setup and mine is the size of the TV, I wonder if that has anything
to do with it.. This is what I'm trying to get running: GWII 60", XP, ATI 9700 Pro, DVI,
PowerStrip
(10) How to create a new monitor?
I had the same problem on my Radeon 8500LE. The solution I used was to use
Powerstrip to write a custom monitor driver first (setting MAX resolution to 1280 x 720
@ 45kHz/60Hz. I saved that driver to disk (calling it SONY GWII KF50XBR800) and
then did the driver update trick and selected the new monitor. Now my resolution options
are 800x600, 1184x666, and 1280x720.
(11) What are the details of this custom monitor driver?
Here are the gory details of the steps:
1) Right click on the Powerstrip icon in the Taskbar
2) From the pop up menu select the top item (Options...)
3) From the options pop up menu select "Monitor Information..."
4) On the Monitor Information screen Click on the down Arrow at the bottom left next to
the dialogue box that reads "Read Data From Registry".
5) From the pop down menu that appears select the "Write Custom Monitor Driver"
6) Read the instructions in the resulting Dialogue box they say to...
7) Replace the Manufacturer name by typing in "Sony"
8) Replace the Model Name typing in something cool like "GWII KF50XBR800"
9) Use the up/down arrows to set the max res and freq to:
Max Horizontal Resolution = 1280 Max Vertical Resolution = 720
Max Horizontal Frequency = 45 kHz Max Vertical Frequency = 60 Hz
10) Click the Diskette Icon next to the "Write Custom Monitor Driver" dialogue box
11) Save it to disk with a cool name like "Sony GWII" remember the disk location that
you saved the file to for the next step...
Your done.
