3.
Click Add new resolution - at this point PowerStrip may require you to reboot. If
it does, do so and get back to the configuration window by selecting Display
Profiles/Configure from the PowerStrip menu.
4.
Select 1280x720 on the resolution slider bar and click Apply.
Hopefully the screen will go blank and then reappear filling the whole screen. This is a
good first resolution to try. If it comes back at the same 640x480 resolution, then you are
going to need to try some different timings. This is where burble's numbers come in
handy. Follow the above steps until you get to step 7. At that step, select the closest
resolution from the left list. Now start entering burble's settings on the right side, use the
"Generic timing details for 1184x666" line. His abbreviations are:
·
HFP = Horizontal Front Porch
·
HSW = Horizontal Sync Width
·
HBP = Horizontal Back Porch
·
kHz = Horizontal Refresh Rate
·
VFP = Vertical Front Porch
·
VSW = Vertical Sync Width
·
VBP = Vertical Back Porch
·
Hz = Vertical Refresh Rate
Now continue on at step 8. Good luck, hopefully you can get it working. If not, there are
a few more things to look at in PowerStrip, but hopefully it won't be necessary.
(4) Are There any options in service mode to bypass GWII's scaler? I don't know
how to bypass the scaler in the service menu. I also doubt it is possible since the set
probably expects it needs to scale/deinterlace everything from either 1080i, 720p, 480p,
or 480i to 768p.
(5) How to use Sony LCD Wega for PC??
You have several options. The easiest, of course, is to just buy a video card with a DVI
output. I would suggest the ATI Radeon line (I have an inexpensive 7500 that works
well, unless you want to play 3D games or do some other heavy graphics processing).
You could also purchase a VGA to Component adapter such as the one made by Audio
Authority and use component instead of DVI. And finally, it does appear that there are
VGA to DVI converters such as this one, but for that price you could get a really nice
new video card.
I would suggest obtaining a copy of PowerStrip which will allow you to try all kinds of
new resolutions. I use PowerStrip plus the latest Radeon drivers and it seems to work
well for me. Beware, you can spend hours with PowerStrip trying to find the perfect
resolution for PC use (1184x666 seems to be good with minimal overscan for me). I still
use 1280x720 for DVD viewing since the overscan is not as crucial.
