3�4 Testing the installation
As a part of the installation, selected settings for the
installation must be tested. One is also required to
test the maximum guide width. The test is carried out
with Test in (2-3-1) and Test out (2-3-2).

3�4�1 Test in (2-3-1)
The Test in (2-3-1) is present in order to test that
Automower® 305 can dock securely in the charging
station.
Test in (2-3-1) can only be used after the mower
has calibrated the guide. In other words, the mower
must have left the charging station on at least one
occasion, either in Auto mode or in connection with
Test out (2-3-2), with the guide width that is to be
tested. See 3.5 Calibrate guide on page 29.
1. Position the mower at least 5 metres from
the charging station and 3 metres from the
guide wire. Aim the mower towards the guide
wire.
2. Select Test in (2-3-1).
3. Check that the mower can track the guide
wire, turn in front of the charging station and
dock in the charging station.
If problems arise in connection with Test in (2-3-1),
see 6.2.4 Symptoms during docking on page 73.
3�4�2 Test out (2-3-2)
The Test out (3-2-5) function is used to test that the
mower can track the guide on a selected guide width.
Test out (3-2-5) is also used to ascertain the distance
from the charging station to a remote area. The
distance can then be indicated in the settings for
Remote start (2-2).

1. Place the mower in the charging station.
2. Select the required Guide width (2-1).
3. Indicate a distance in Remote start -
Distance (2-2-2) that definitely exceeds the
distance to the position along the guide cable
you wish to test, e.g. on the other side of a
narrow passage.
4. Select Test out (2-3-2).
When the function is selected the mower will
calibrate the guide (see 3.5 Calibrate guide
on page 29) and then track the guide cable a
maximum distance from the guide cable for
the selected guide width.
5. Check that the mower can track the guide
cable the entire distance.
6. Repeat steps 1 to 5 until you have found the
maximum guide width.
The illustration below shows how an Automower®
305 navigates a passage when Guide width is set at
Medium but not when Wide is selected.
Find distance to Remote start
1. Indicate a distance that definitely exceeds
the actual one. The maximum distance that
can be indicated is 100 metres.
2. Park the Automower® 305 in the charging
station and select the Test out (2-3-2)
function. The mower will leave the charging
station.
3. Stop the mower after the required distance and
read off the distance indicated in the display.
4. Now enter this distance in the settings for
Remote start - Distance (2-2-2).
5. Place the mower in the charging station and
activate Test out (2-3-2) again to check that
the distance indicated is correct.
