Configuration of link axes and container axes

Function
The link function makes it possible to increase the number of axes and channels in the
installation. The necessary link cycle increases with the number of link axes and container
axes.
Typical link cycles are:
● 2 NCUs with 2 containers, each with 6 axes or spindles: 8ms
● 3 NCUs with 2 containers, each with 6 axes or spindles: 17ms
● 4 NCUs with 2 containers, each with 4 axes or spindles: 17ms
Machine axis image
The channels operate with one of 31 logical axes from the logical machine axis image. This
image points to:
● Local axes
● Link axes
● Container slots
Container slots in turn point to:
● Local axes or
● Link axes

Channel in which the setpoint-generating part program for the axis is executed after the
installation has powered up.
From the point of view of an NCU (2) that traverses following axes, a
traversed by another NCU (1). The required data for the master value axis are supplied
via → link communication for NCU (2). Axis coupling between the leading axis and the
following axis/axes is implemented, for example, by means of a curve table.

The times increase if more link variables have to be transferred in addition.
