accum ulated 80 m inutes of purge pum p-out tim e since the
last carbon tank regeneration w ould be estim ated to have
84 percent carbon tank capacity rem aining:
100 – (80/350)* 100 = 84%
The purge controls m ay initiate a carbon tank regeneration
cycle w hen the rem aining carbon tank capacity is
calculated to be less than 80 percent. How ever, the
continued stable operation of the chiller is always m ore
im portant than the regeneration of the carbon tank.
Therefore, the follow ing rules apply:
1. If the Daily Pum p-out Lim it is disabled, a regeneration
cycle m ay not be initiated, regardless of the value of
the rem aining carbon capacity.
Also, if the Daily Pum p-out Lim it is disabled during a
regeneration cycle, the regeneration cycle m ust be
term inated.
2. When the rem aining carbon capacity is less than
80 percent, a regeneration cycle w ill be initiated at the
next opportunity w hen the chiller is running (after the
chiller has started and no pum p-out m inutes have
accum ulated for the previous 60 m inutes).
3. If there is no opportunity to purge as indicated by Rules
1 and 2 and the rem aining carbon capacity is less than
50 percent, a regeneration cycle w ill be initiated at the
best opportunity w hen the chiller is shut dow n (and no
pum p-out m inutes have accum ulated for the previous
60 m inutes).
4. If there is no opportunity to regenerate as indicated by
Rules 1, 2, and 3, and the carbon capacity drops below
0 percent, then a regeneration cycle is initiated.
5. Note that if at any tim e during the regeneration cycle,
the chiller is running and shuts dow n or if the chiller is
off and starts up, then the regeneration cycle is
continued.

WARNING
Hazardous Voltage
Failure to disconnect power before servicing could
result in death or serious injury. Disconnect all electric
power, including remote disconnects before servicing.
Follow proper lockout/ tagout procedures to ensure the
power can not be inadvertently energized.
N ot e: Graphic labels (show n above) are used for CE
application only.
Im port ant :
Before servicing, disconnect all pow er sources and
allow at least 30 m inutes for capacitors to discharge.
All electrical enclosures—unit or rem ote—are IP2X.
If the purge controller determ ines that carbon tank
regeneration is desired and is allow ed, the purge controls:
1. Disable the purge refrigeration circuit and the pum p-
out solenoid valve.
2. Open the regeneration solenoid valve and turn on the
carbon tank heater.
3. M onitor the carbon tem perature until it reaches the
regeneration tem perature value of 115.6° C (240° F), and
control w ithin a ±5.6° C (±10° F) dead band for
15 m inutes (this step should take approxim ately
3 hours).
