C-1
Check the Boom
Wear Pads
Maintaining the boom wear pads in good condition
is essential to safe machine operation. Wear pads
are placed on boom tube surfaces to provide a low
friction, replaceable wear pad between moving
parts. Improperly shimmed wear pads or
continued use of worn out wear pads may result in
component damage and unsafe operating
conditions.
1 Start the engine from the ground controls.
2 Raise the end of the boom to a comfortable
working height (chest high), then extend the
boom 1 foot (30 cm).
3 Measure each wear pad. Replace the wear pad

4 Extend and retract the boom through the entire
range of motion to check for tight spots that
could cause binding or scraping.
Always maintain squareness
between the boom outer and inner
tubes.

Check the Turntable Rotation
Bearing Bolts
Maintaining proper torque on the turntable bearing
bolts is essential to safe machine operation.
Improper bolt torque could result in an unsafe
operating condition and component damage.
1 Raise the boom and place a safety chock on
the cylinder. Carefully lower the boom onto the
lift cylinder safety chock.

away from cylinder and all moving
parts when lowering the boom.
The lift cylinder safety chock is
