Yoke and Hub

How to Remove the Yoke
and Hub
1 Remove the retaining bolt, then the pivot pin
from both the steering cylinder and the tie rod.

2 Loosen the wheel lug nuts. Do not
remove them.
3 Block the non-steering wheels, and then
center a lifting jack under the steering axle.
4 Raise the machine 6 inches (15 cm) and place
blocks under the chassis for support.

Section 7 - Repair Procedures
5 Remove the lug nuts, then the tire and
wheel assembly.
6 Remove the retaining bolt from the king pin.
7 Attach a strap from a lifting device to the
yoke/hub assembly for support.
8 Use a slide hammer to remove the upper king
pin, then use a soft metal drift to drive the
lower king pin down and out.
Crushing hazard. The yoke/hub
assembly will fall when the king
pins are removed if it is not
properly supported.
