Test the Platform Overload
System (if equipped)
Genie specifications require that
this procedure be performed every
500 hours or six months.
Testing the platform overload system regularly is
essential to safe machine operation. Continued use
of an improperly operating platform overload
system could result in the system not sensing an
overloaded platform condition. Machine stablity
could be compromised resulting in the machine
tipping over.
Perform this procedure with the
machine on a firm, level surface.
1 Turn the key switch to platform control. Start the
engine from the platform controls.
2 Level the platform.
3 Determine the maximum platform capacity.
Refer to the machine serial plate.

Section 3 • Scheduled Maintenance Procedures
4 Using a suitable lifting device, place an
appropriate test weight equal to the maximum
platform capacity in one of the locations shown.
Result: The platform overload indicator light
should be off at both the ground and platform
controls.
5 Carefully move the test weight to each
remaining location.
Result: The platform overload indicator light
should be off at both the ground and platform
controls.
6 Add an additional 66 lbs / 30 kg of weight to
overload the platform.
Result: The alarm should be sounding.
The platform overload indicator light should be
flashing at both the ground and platform
controls.
Result: If the alarm does not sound and the
platform overload indicator light does not come
on with the test weights in any of the platform
locations, the platform overload system needs
to be calibrated. See D-9, Calibrate the Platform
Overload System (if equipped) .
