Procedure
1. Back up all server data.
2. Power down the server .
3. Disconnect all peripheral cables from the server front panel.
4. Remove the server from the chassis .
5. Place the server on a sturdy, level surface.
6. Remove the access panel.
7. Remove the Smart Storage Battery:
a. Disconnect the cable from the riser connector.
b. Pull back the release clip.
c. Lift the Smart Storage Battery from the holder.
To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.

Hot-plug drive

CAUTION:
To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage, do not operate the server unless all bays are
populated with either a component or a blank.
To remove the component:
Procedure
1. Back up all server data on the drive.
2. Determine the status of the drive from the hot-plug drive LED definitions.
3. Remove the hot-plug drive.
