Fail-Safe Modules
7.4 PM-D F DC24V PROFIsafe power module
Causes of Faults and Corrective Measures
The following table lists the possible causes of faults and corrective measures for the
individual diagnostic messages of the PM-D F DC24V PROFIsafe power module.

PM-D F DC24V PROFIsafe
Fault
Possible Fault Causes
Detection
Always
Short circuit in the
actuator
Cross-circuit in the
actuator
Internal fault
Always
Shutdown due to
violation of upper and
lower temperature limit
values in the module
case.
Always
Internal module fault
has occurred
Always
Inserted module does
not match
configuration. Incorrect
parameter assignment.
PROFIsafe address set
incorrectly on the
F-module
Always
No supply voltage or
supply voltage is too
low
Always
Error in communication
between F-CPU and
module, e.g., due to
defective PROFIBUS
connection or higher
than permissible EMI
PROFIsafe monitoring
time set too low

Corrective Measures
To correct short or cross circuit the
module must be removed and inserted or
switched on and off
Replace module
Check load wiring, check ambient
temperature. Once the fault is eliminated,
the module must be removed and
inserted or switched off and on.
Replace module
Correct the configuration (compare actual
and preset configuration), and check
communication paths. Correct the
parameter assignment.
Check whether the PROFIsafe address
on the module matches the configuration
STEP 7 HW Config
in
Check module for correct contact
After correction of the fault the module
must be removed and inserted or
switched off and on
Test PROFIBUS connection. Correct
faults.
Set a higher value for the "F monitoring
time" parameter for the module in
HW Config
