Symptom
The printed output has dark specks
or spots.
The printed output has lines.
The printed output on the copy is not
aligned properly.
The printed page is curled.

8.9 When Incorrect Copies Are Produced
Possible Cause
The Original Glass surface is
dirty.
The Original Pad is dirty.
The original is highly
transparent.
The original is 2-sided.
Something is sticking to the
Original Glass (when the Auto
Document Feeder is used).
The Drum Cartridge has
reached the end of its service
life.
The original is not placed in the
correct position.
The original may not be
suitable for use in the Auto
Document Feeder.
The Edge Guide and Trailing
Edge Stop are not pressed up
against the paper stack in the
tray.
The paper has an excessive
curl.
The paper that was used curls
easily (as with recycled paper).
Action
Wipe the Original Glass clean
with a soft, dry cloth.
Wipe the Original Pad clean
with a soft cloth dampened with
neutral detergent.
Place a blank sheet of paper
over the original.
If a thin double-sided document
is being printed, the information
on the back side may be
reproduced in the print. Press
the [ ] key and select a lighter
print density.
Wipe the Original Glass clean
with a soft, dry cloth.
Contact your service
representative.
Place the original correctly on
the Original Glass against the
Original Scales.
Or, load it in the Auto
Document Feeder correctly
along the Document Guide
Plates.
Raise the Auto Document
Feeder and place the original
on the Original Glass correctly
against the Original Scales.
Slide the Edge Guide and
Trailing Edge Stop up against
the edges of the paper stack.
Smooth out curls in the paper
and reload the paper stack in
the tray.
Remove the paper from the
paper tray, turn it over, and
then load it again.
Change the paper.
