    HTTP. Management port The ERS 4000 series hardware is not equipped with a designated out-of-band (OOB) management port. Use the management port for OOB management when an IP address is assigned to that port. Use the console interface or the in-band switch IP address set from the console terminal through any network port to manage the switch.

    Refer to chapter 4: Connecting to the switch for details on connecting a terminal to the console port on the ERS 4000 Series switch. Password encryption The local passwords of the switch are stored in the configuration file, encrypted with an Avaya proprietary algorithm. Important: For security reasons, Avaya recommends that you configure the passwords to values other than the factory defaults.
