The motorcycle must reach a
speed of at least 5 km/h in or-
der for DTC self-diagnosis to
complete.

DTC self-diagnosis

The DTC symbol no longer
shows.
If an indicator showing an DTC
fault appears when DTC self-
diagnosis completes:
You can continue to ride. Bear
in mind that the DTC function
is not available or the function-
ality is subject to certain re-
strictions.
Have the fault rectified as
quickly as possible by a
specialist workshop, preferably
an authorised BMW Motorrad
dealer.

Running in

Engine
Until the running-in check,
vary the throttle opening and
engine-speed range frequently;
avoid riding at constant engine
rpm for prolonged periods.
Try to do most of your rid-
ing during this initial period on
twisting, fairly hilly roads.
Comply with the rpm limits for

running in.

The electronic engine man-
agement system prevents
the engine from revving past the
preset rpm limit for running in.
The authorised BMW Motorrad
dealer deactivates this monitor-
ing function when the motorcycle
is brought in for its running-in
check.
