the rider are sensitive response
and high braking and directional
stability combined with best-case
deceleration of the motorcycle,
even when cornering.

How does the DTC work?
The BMW Motorrad DTC system
compares the speed of rotation
of the front wheel and the rear
wheel. The differential is used to
compute slip as a measure of the
reserves of stability available at
the rear wheel. If slip exceeds a
certain limit, the engine control
intervenes and adapts the engine
torque accordingly.
Even DTC is constrained
by the laws of physics. In-
SPORT
and
variably, the rider bears respons-
ibility for assessing road and
traffic conditions and adopting
his or her style of riding accord-
ingly.
Do not take risks that would neg-
ate the additional safety offered
by this system.
DTC adaptation
In the SLICK riding mode, the
behaviour of the DTC can be
adapted to personal preferences.
Out on the track, as tyre wear
progresses you can fine-tune
DTC to continue riding close
to the physical limits, and
you can also adapt system
response to tyres not tested by
BMW Motorrad.
Based on the standard settings,
the moment of DTC intervention
can be advanced by seven levels
or retarded by seven levels. The
earlier the intervention, the better
the cornering. With later inter-
vention, drive is improved at the
expense of cornering, until tyre
adhesion is exceeded.

physics, the ability to accelerate
