TRANSMISSION BEARING INSPECTION
Turn the inner races of
the
bearings with your
f
inger.
The bearings should turn smoothly and quietly.
Also check
that the
outer fBces of
the
bearings
fit
tightly in
the
crankcase.
Replace the bearings
if
they do
not turn smoothly
and quietly,
or
if
they
have
been
spinning
in
the
crankcase.
CRANKCASE BEARING REPLACEMENT
Remove
the
oil
pump
drive shaft and
drive
spro
cket.
Remove
the
crankshaft.
Remove the
countershaft oil seal.
Drive
the countershalt and mainshaft
bearings out of
the
left
crankcase.
Drive
the
mainshaft and countershaft
bearings
out of
the right
crankcase.
Drive new bearings
into
the
crankcase.

Instal! a new left
countershaft
oil seal in
the left
crankcase
and
grease the oil seal
lip.
Install
the
oil
pump drive
shaft
and
drive
sprocket
and
the
cranksh
aft
.
Apply dean engine oil
to the transmission gears and
shift drum.
Install
the
transmission and shih drum in
the
left crankcase as
an assembly.
Rotate
the shift drum to
check
the
transmission
operation.
Install
the
kickst
arter.
