configuration to flash memory, before making further configuration changes.

Additional Trunking Options

The CLI contains commands for doing the following:
Naming a trunk port
Disabling or re-enabling a trunk port
Deleting a trunk group
NOTE: To monitor the traffic on a trunk port, see "Monitoring an Individual Trunk Port" on page 4-50.
Naming a Trunk Port
You can assign a name to a port in a trunk group. Once you assign a name to the port, you can use the name
when configuring trunk parameters for the port. The name also is used in trunk information displays.
To name the primary port in a trunk group, enter commands such as the following at the trunk group configuration
level:
HP9300(config-trunk-4/1-4/4)# config-primary-ind
HP9300(config-trunk-4/1-4/4)# port-name customer1-lead ethernet 4/1
These commands assigns the name "customer1-lead" to port 4/1, the lead port in the trunk group consisting of
ports 4/1 – 4/4. The config-primary-ind command is required if you are configuring the primary port. If you do
not use this command, the configuration change you make to the primary port is applied to all the ports in the
trunk group. Do not use this command if you are configuring one of the secondary trunk ports.
Syntax: [no] config-primary-ind
Syntax: [no] port-name <text> ethernet <portnum>
The <text> parameter specifies the port name. The name can be up to 50 characters long.
To name any other trunk port except the primary port, enter a command such as the following at the trunk group
configuration level:
HP9300(config-trunk-4/1-4/4)# port-name customer1 ethernet 4/2
This command assigns the name "customer1" to port 4/2 in the trunk group consisting of ports 4/1 – 4/4.
Disabling or Re-Enabling a Trunk Port
You can disable or re-enable individual ports in a trunk group.
To disable the primary port in a trunk group, enter the following commands at the trunk group configuration level:
HP9300(config-trunk-4/1-4/4)# config-primary-ind
HP9300(config-trunk-4/1-4/4)# disable ethernet 4/1
To disable a secondary port in a trunk group, enter a command such as the following at the trunk group
configuration level:
HP9300(config-trunk-4/1-4/4)# disable ethernet 4/2
This command disables port 4/2 in the trunk group consisting of ports 4/1 – 4/4.
Syntax: disable ethernet <portnum>
If you have configured a name for the trunk port, you can specify the port name, as shown in the following
example:
HP9300(config-trunk-4/1-4/4)# disable customer1
Syntax: disable <portname>
