HINT:

Thoroughly clean all parts to
be
assembled.
.
Before installing
the parts, apply new engine
oil to
all
sliding and rotaing surfaces.
.
Replace
all gaskets, and oil seals
with
new parts.
1.
INSTALL VALVE LIFTERS
(a)
lnstall bolt @ to the cylinder block with a new gasket.
Torque: 75 kg-cm (4.7 in.-\b,7.4 N'm)
(b)
lnstall the valve lifter so that the tip of
bolt @ fits
in
the groove.
(c)
lnstall bolt @ with a new gasket by hand, check that
its
tip
is inside the long hole.
(d)
Torque
bolt
@
.
Torque: 375 kg-cm (28 ft-lb, 37 N'm)
HINT:
Check
that the valve lifter
moves smoothly up and
down.
2.
INSTALL
MAIN
BEARINGS
(a)
Align the
bearing claw
with the claw groove of the
main bearing
cap
or cylinder
block.
(b)
lnstall
the
bearing
in the
cylinder block and
main
bearing caps in the proper location.
NOTICE:
lnstall
the
bearing
with the oil
hole
in
the
cylinder block.
INSTALL UPPER THRUST WASHERS
lnstall the thrust washers under
the
No.
3
main
bearing
cap position
of the
block
with the oil
grooves
facing
outward.
