Introduction

AMI BIOS is extremely popular and has been integrated into numerous mother-
boards for over a decade. The AMI BIOS setup menu is also referred to as BIOS,
BIOS setup, or CMOS setup.
With the AMI BIOS setup program, users can modify BIOS settings to control the
special computer features. The setup program comprises several menus and config-
urable options. The basic navigation of the AIMB-281 setup screens is described in
this chapter.

BIOS Setup

The AIMB-281 system is equipped with AMI BIOS as well as a CMOS setup utility
that allows users to configure settings and activate certain system features.
The CMOS setup utility saves all configuration settings to the CMOS RAM of the
motherboard. When the power is turned off, the battery on the board provides the
necessary power to preserve the CMOS RAM.
When the power is turned on, users can access the CMOS setup screen by pressing
the <Del> button during the BIOS POST (Power-On Self Test).
