Black Area
4. A black area in an image can be down to CIS, cable or Main Board. A black area
one CIS can be either the CIS, the cable or the main board, where as a black section
more likely to be the cable and / or CIS; the main board is not as likely. Easiest thing to try first, in
all cases, is the cable. Re-seat it at the Main Board end, making sure there are no broken cores or
damage visible. A CIS can be swapped within the CIS Mounting Bracket to check to see if the
problem is a CIS, or to move the faulty CIS to the end of the scanner if the customer does not use
the full width of the scanner. The Main Board is the next easiest thing to swap to see if the problem
goes away. Refer to service manual for procedures.
5. Early versions of the software created completely black scans of a 0mb file size. This was a bug in
the software. Make sure the software is up to the latest version from the Colortrac website:
