IBM iSeries hardware

This section describes the hardware that you can use with IBM iSeries hosts.
The DS6000 supports the following models for the IBM iSeries hosts:
v Models 270, 800, 810, 820, 825, 830, 840, 870, 890
v The IBM eServer i5 product line consists of model 550, model 520, and model

The IBM iSeries fibre-channel adapter automatically detects the attachment
protocol. You do not need to manually perform a system configuration.
The iSeries fibre-channel adapter operates at 2 Gb on OS/400
2 or i5/OS Version 5 Release 3.

IBM iSeries software

This section describes the software that you can use with IBM iSeries hosts.
Before you attach a storage unit to the IBM iSeries host using a fibre-channel
adapter, you must install one of the following operating systems:
v i5/OS Version 5 Release 3
v OS/400 Version 5 Release 2
v Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0
v SUSE SLES 9

This section contains general configuration information for IBM iSeries hosts.
The following list identifies some general information about connecting the IBM
iSeries host through a switch:
v The IBM iSeries supports only a homogeneous environment (only IBM iSeries
