v Ensure that the IBM Director Console computer permits inbound TCP port 6000
traffic from the DR550 SSAM Servers.
v Ensure that the IBM Director Console has X-Server running on Display "0" and
that the user is using that display.

Hardware status for IBM Director Agents running on AIX

How hardware status works for AIX agents
On AIX, when a hardware event is detected by system firmware for a platform
error (such as fan, temperature, memory, or CPU) or device driver for
storage/network events (for example, adapters and disks), sensor (error)
information is written out to the AIX error log. AIX diagnostic is notified of the
event, runs diagnostic to analyze the problem to make sure it is truly a problem
(i.e. not a rediscovered problem, not a transient problem, etc.). It then associates
appropriate SRN, SRC, recommended action to the event and notifies all registered
listeners about the problem.
In general, the reason for that is so AIX customers won't be flagged with false
errors or duplicated errors. In the event that diagnostics has not done a good job in
analyzing the problem, there are error log entries to help with diagnosing the
problem and calibrate the diagnostic routines. IBM Director Agent on AIX is one of
the listeners for diagnostic events besides the Service Focal Point on HMC as well
as the Service Agent product. Registering IBM Director Agent as an AIX
diagnostics listener was done to be consistent in the way we report problems
regardless of whatever product is used by AIX customers. Another way to explain
the reason for the different method of reporting problems on System p because
firmware stack and operation system on System p is different from System x.
All kind of events are logged in the AIX error log like system shutdown. IBM
Director Agent only listens to and reports persistent problems.
There is no initial hardware status for IBM Director agents running on AIX. We can
only report problems that have occurred while the agent was listening.
IBM Director requires a one to one mapping between an error event and its
resolution event. Since AIX only knows the generic REPLACED_FRU resolution
event, we can have only one error event. Therefore, hardware Status events on AIX
are reported as one event type: IBMP_CSServiceEventIndication, which is a
CIM_AlertIndication.
In the Hardware Status window of the Director Console, all these events are listed
in the Status Category "Service Events."
A REPLACED_FRU resolution event will remove all pending hardware status
events.
Hardware status event troubleshooting
Verify that the environment is setup correctly: Here are some steps that you can
use to verify that things are in place for Director to receive CIM hardware events
on AIX. This setup is done during a Director agent install.
