CD-ROM Drive Removal
Remove the CD-ROM drive as follows. Removal of the optional DVD-ROM drive is similar.
Remove the system unit bottom cover (see "Bottom Cover Removal" earlier in this section).

Remove the four screws securing the drive to the support plate (see the following figure).

Carefully pull the drive off the support plate far enough to access the drive interface cable

connector board. It's not necessary to unplug the cable from the board unless you are
replacing the board or cable.
Remove the screw securing the connector board to the drive bracket.
4.
Unplug the connector board from the drive and slide the board out from under the mounting

bracket on the drive.
Remove the two screws and mounting bracket from each side of the drive. Save the brackets

and screws for use with the replacement drive.
