5. CLEAR PAPER
: Misfeeding around the Fuser Unit

Open the front cover and the upper unit.
G See page 118 for opening the upper unit.

If paper is misfed in the fuser unit:
G Turn the fuser unit knob D in the direction
of the arrow to remove the misfed paper.
G If the paper is torn while being removed,
be sure to remove any pieces of paper left
in the machine.
Caution: Be careful as the fuser unit
may be hot.
G If the misfed paper is not found: using the
lever M, lift the exit guide while pulling it
toward you and remove the misfed paper.
G Return the exit guide to its original position.
G If the misfed paper cannot be removed,
refer to " : Misfeeding in the Auto-
Duplexer" on page 133.

If paper is misfed under the drum:
G Remove the misfed paper by referring to
"1 : Misfeeding in Cassette/Auto
Duplexer Feeding" on page 130.

Check the entire paper path. Remove any
misfed paper.

Close the upper unit and the front cover.
