Boot-up Failure
Problem
You turn on the Notebook and the following
conditions apply:
•
The Notebook's power is on.
•
There is no screen display
Post Failure
Problem
You turn on the computer and the following
happens:
•
There is power to the system.
•
The HDD seems to be spinning.
•
The screen is operational, and error codes
and messages are displayed.
LCD Panel Failure
Problem
You turn on the computer and one of the
following conditions apply:
•
The system is working, but there is no LCD
panel display.
•
The system is working, but the LCD panel
display vertical or horizontal lines.
•
The backlight comes on, but there is no
display.
•
There is a display, but you have garbled
characters on the screen.
Troubleshooting Procedure
Turn on the power switch:
•
Check the DRAM connections to be sure
that they are secure.
•
Check the LCD connections.
•
Check the system board power circuit.
Troubleshooting Procedure
•
A POST failure usually indicates a
keyboard, memory, or HDD failure.
•
Check the error code or message against
the error codes and messages in this
chapter..
Troubleshooting Procedure
•
Make sure that the LCD cables are securely
connected.
•
Make sure that the LCD cables are securely
connected to the inverter.
•
If the cables are securely connected and the
LCD still doesn't work, replace the LCD
panel and test the system again.
•
If the display is garbled, there is probably a
VGA chip failure. Replace the
motherboard.
