Maintenance
Follow the maintenance schedule pre-
sented on page 70. Keep in mind that this
schedule is based on the assumption that
the outboard motor will only be used for its
intended purpose. Operation under sus-
tained high loads or other unusual condi-
tions will require more frequent service.

This outboard motor is labeled with the
California Air Resources Board (CARB)
star label. A description of this label is pre-
sented below.

One Star- Low emission The one-star label
identifies engines that meet the Air
EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM INFORMATION
Resources Board's Personal Watercraft

exhaust emission standards.
Engines meeting these standards have
75% lower emissions than conventional
carbureted two-stroke engines.
These engines are equivalent to the U.S.
EPA's 2006 standards for marine engines.

Two Stars-Very Low Emission
The two-star label identifies engines that
meet the Air Resources Board's Personal
Watercraft and Outboard marine engine
2004 exhaust emission standards.
Engines meeting these standards have
20% lower emissions than One Star-Low
Emission engines.

Three Stars-Ultra Low Emission
ENOF01001-0
The three-star label identifies engines that
meet the Air Resources Board's Personal
Watercraft and Outboard marine engine
2008 exhaust emission standards or the
Sterndrive and Inboard marine engine
2003-2008 exhaust emission standards.
