Read this information before using the unit Electromagnetic Interference/Compatibility Nearly every electronic device is susceptible to electromagnetic interference (EMI) if inadequately shielded, designed, or otherwise configured for electromagnetic compatibility. Potentially Explosive Atmospheres Do not operate the Telephone Router in any area with a potentially explosive atmosphere. Sparks in a potentially explosive atmosphere can cause an explosion or fire resulting in bodily injury or even death. Areas with potentially explosive atmospheres include fueling areas such as below decks on boats, fuel or chemical transfer or storage facilities, areas where the air contains chemicals or particles such as grain, dust, or metal powders, and any other area where you would normally be advised to turn off your vehicle engine. Areas with potentially explosive atmospheres are often but not always posted. Blasting Caps and Areas To avoid possible interference with blasting operations, do not use the Telephone Router near electrical blasting caps, in a blasting area, or in areas posted: “Turn off two‐way radio.” Obey all signs and instructions. SELV/TNV‐3 warning The TITAN Telephone Router and Master Controller modules have been assessed as having TNV‐3 and SELV circuits, all non PSTN ports shall be connected to approved SELV circuits or an approved isolation unit shall be used. Telephone Router ABOUT THE TELEPHONE ROUTER Introduction The TITAN Telephone Router module is a multiport IVR (interactive voice response) device that allows messages to be dispatched in one of a variety of messaging protocols. Users call into the Telephone Router module via a telephone handset and follow voice prompts in order to initiate numeric paging messages, alphanumeric common messages or voice paging. Router package contains a set of rack ears and six screws. Use a phillips screwdriver to attach the ears to the chassis. Use the supplied IEC mains power lead to connect 110‐240VAC 50/60 Hz supply to the Telephone Router unit. The phone lines will need to be run to a spare PBX extension using a standard RJ12 phone cable. Page 12: Basic Configuration
In order to view the user interface, you must first connect to the Telephone Router via its Ethernet port. There are two ways that you can connect to the unit. 1. Directly with a PC or laptop using the supplied crossover Ethernet cable (red rj45 ‐ rj45). 2. By connecting the unit to a local area network (LAN) by connecting it to a spare port or to a switch/hub, using the supplied straight through Ethernet cable (blue rj45 ‐ rj45). Once you have plugged in the unit you can use a utility called “IPDiscover” to locate your Telephone Router on the network and start a web session with the unit. This program is included on the CD included in the package. Run the program and you will see all TITAN products on the network. NOTE: DHCP is enabled by default. If no DHCP server is found on the network, the default IP of 192.168.0.1 will be used. In the example above, there is a Telephone Router on the network at IP Address 192.168.100.60. If you would like to configure the IP settings of this unit you may click the “CfgIP” button. Time Server – This is the time server on the internet that your Telephone Router will periodically try to syncronise with in order to keep the correct time. • Current Time – Shows the current time from the Telephone Router unit. • Time Zone – This setting helps the Telephone Router calculate the current local time. • Manually Set Time – If your Telephone Router is never connected to the internet you can manually set the time in this field in 24hr format. IP Settings Next, it is a good idea to check that the IP settings of the unit are suitable. Click Settings ‐> IP Settings. • Host name – Here you can give your Telephone Router a name on the network. This name will show up in the IPDiscover utility. Giving a unique name allows multiple IP based TITAN devices to be easily located and managed. • FTP server enabled – Your Telephone Router contains a simple ftp server which can be used to transfer files to the unit. Maint is the only user which has access to this server. This is usually best left set to No for security purposes. • DHCP client enabled – By default this option is set to Yes which means that upon powerup your Telephone Router will attempt to contact a DHCP server on the network that it is connected to in order to gain an IP Address. User Manual Telephone Router Modes of Operation The Telephone Router can operate in two modes, depending on the license key it has installed. 1. RS232 serial output mode – Messages that are received by the Telephone Router can be sent out using the TAP protocol via the serial port into any compatible device such as a TITAN SmartPage‐ E or TITAN Master Controller. (distributed mode license key not installed) 2. Distributed mode – uses XML over IP to connect to a TITAN Master Controller unit. The advantage with this is many slave modules can connect to one master unit so that the database is stored in one location. Telephone Router User Manual 3.7.1 Distributed Mode To configure distributed mode, click Settings ‐> Distributed Mode. 1. To enable this Telephone Router unit to operate in distributed mode, select Yes. 2. In the Server field, type the IP Address of the TITAN Master Controller. 3. The Server Port field should be left at the default 80. 4. In distributed mode, the Telephone Router module queries its master during each step of a call over the network. The Response Telephone Timeout field is the maximum wait time in seconds that this Telephone Router unit will wait for an answer from the master unit. Default 20 seconds. Telephone Router maintains a list of alphanumeric common messages which can be inserted into messages initiated via the telephone interface. These messages are setup by clicking Messages ‐> Common Messages. 1. To add a new common message, click the button. 2. Common messages are inserted into messages using a special command and a unique numeric Message Id. It is a good idea to keep a list of all common messages and their corresponding id next to each telephone handset convenience. 3. User Manual Telephone Router 3.10 Line Settings Some advanced settings can be configured on a per line basis. To administer these settings click Input Lines ‐> Line x Access PIN – Telephone Router can optionally require an access code to be entered before a call will be processed as a security feature. Enter a four digit PIN here, or leave the field blank for no PIN. Priority Calls – Ticking this option means that all calls dispatched from this line will be priority messages. This only occurs if the Telephone Router is operating in distributed mode. Messages Per Call – The maximum number of messages that can be dispatched per call to this line. IVR Timeout – This field refers to the timeout of an active call if no input is made within x seconds. NOTE: If no key is pressed within this Timeout value at the “Enter Message” prompt, a blank or “Tone Only” message will be sent to the recipient. Answer Rings – The number of rings the Telephone Router will ring for before answering an incoming call. Once a system is configured and operating correctly it is a good idea to backup a database as part of the site’s data recovery plan. To manage this process, click Settings ‐> Backup/Restore. Telephone Router Updating the Telephone Router Firmware Your dealer may send you new a new firmware file at some stage. This is a way to easily upgrade the unit’s functionality, without returning it to the factory. To manage this process, click Settings ‐> Firmware Update. 1. The firmware file will usually be a .cfw format file. If the file has been zipped or sent via email, save the .cfw file to your desktop. 2. Click the Browse button and browse to the location of the saved file. 3. Click Upload. The file will be sent over the network to the Telephone Router. User Manual Telephone Router Line Settings To administer advanced phone line settings, click Input Lines ‐> Line Settings. Rx Gain – This field refers to the phone line sensitivity on the input side. Value range is from ‐16.5dB to +13.5dB. For example, if the Telephone Router is having trouble hearing DTMF key presses you could try typing a value of 3, 6, 9 or 12 dB here and check for improvements. Tx Gain – This field refers to the phone line sensitivity on the output side. Value range is from ‐16.5dB to +13.5dB. For example, if voice prompts are too quiet through the phone, you could try typing a value of 3, 6, 9 or 12 dB here until the voice prompt is at the correct volume. Filter – The telephony lines support additional filter selections for the receive and transmit signals. This should normally be left at a value of 0. Hybrid 1‐8 – These fields are used to adjust the hybrid response to reduce near‐end echo in the eight‐tap filter. When these fields are set to all 0s, this filter stage does not have an effect on the hybrid response. Pulses Per Ring – This field adjusts how many pulses the Telephone Router will count as one ring. This should normally be left at a value of 20. © JTECH Communications, Inc. Page 33 ... -

1. Dial one of the extensions used by the Telephone Router. 2. The Telephone Router will answer your call after a preset number of rings (2 by default). 3. If a PIN number has been setup on the line you called, you will be prompted with Enter PIN. Enter the four‐digit access PIN using the numbers on your telephone. If the PIN is incorrect, the PBX Interface will revert to Step 2. 4. If no PIN has been set or if the PIN you entered was correct, you will be prompted to Enter pager number. 5. Enter the Local ID of the recipient for this message. NOTE: The # key can be used to indicate the end of the Local ID. 6. If the Local ID entered is not available, the Telephone Router will respond with Pager Not Registered, and revert to Step 5. NOTE: If the Telephone Router is running in RS232 TAP mode, all local ID’s are accepted. 7. If the Local ID is valid, Telephone Router will prompt you with Enter Message. 8. Enter the message you wish to send using the numbers on your telephone keypad. Common Messages can be inserted into a message. To insert a common message, simply press * followed by the two digit number of the PBX Message you wish to send. You can insert multiple alphanumeric PBX Messages as part of the message you wish to send, and mix and match alphanumeric messages with numeric digits. NOTE: The # key can be used to indicate the end of the message. 9. Telephone Router will respond with Message Sent, and revert to step 4. If you have no more messages to send, simply hang up.
