hammer
tap
out the
mput
shaft
assembly

gearbox

stripped

Thoroughly
flush out the mterlor of the caSIng with
paraffIn
and WIpe
clean
wIth
a non
fluffy
rag

bearing
are
located

the front of
the
maIO
casmg
by
a
large
flanged
sleeve pressed
onto
the
bearmg
outer
track

To
renew
the
bearing
fIrst
remove
the
selectIve
fIt
clrcllp
and
washer from the front
end
of the
bearing

Place
the outer
track of the
race on
the top
of
a
firm bench
vIce
and drive the
mput shaft through the bearmg
Note whIch
way round
the
bearmg
IS
fItted
LIft away the
bearmg

Usmg
a
suitable d ameter drift
remove
the
bearmg
from the
flanged
sleeve

Recover the
spIgot
bearing
from the
maIO
shaft end of the
mput
shaft

clrchp pllen
remove
the
clrchp
from the front
of the mamshaft

Shde off
the
3rd top
gear
synchronlser
and 3rd gear
complete
WIth needle
roller bearings

Note
that
a
baulk
ring
IS
located
on
both ends of the
synchronlser

Undo and
remove
the nut
and lockplate
from the
rear
of
the
mamshaft
ThIS has
already
been slackened
off

W thdraw the
speedometer
drive gear and
ball bearing
6
The
reverse
gear
and sphned
hub may
now
be
WIthdrawn
from the mamshaft
7
Place the malnshaft
10
a vIce
and WIth
a
soft
metal hammer
drive
the
mamshaft
through
the
maIO
bearing
and
retainer
assembly
8
Slide
off
the
thrult washen
and
lit gear
together
WIth the
needle roller
bearing and
sleeve
Take
care to
remove
the
thrust
washer
ball bearing
located
10
the mamshaft

Remove the
1st 2nd
gear
synchronoser
a
mbly
and
2nd
gear
complete
with
needle
roller
bearing

note that
a
baulk ring

located
on

end of the
synchronoser
11 Remove the
orcllp
from
the
mamshaft and WIth
a
soft faced
hammer drIVe
out the
rear
mamshaft bearing
from the retaIner
