Introduction

This chapter describes how to set up the scanner with a Scanner Emulation host. Use this mode when Scanner Emulation
communication is needed. In this mode, the scanner connects to an external decoder or to a decoder integrated in a mobile
computer
or Point-of-Sale (POS) terminal.

Connecting Using Scanner Emulation

To perform Scanner Emulation, connect the scanner to a mobile computer, or a controller which collects the data and interprets it
for
the host.
Host Port Connector
Interface cables vary depending on configuration. The connectors illustrated in
only.
The connectors may be different than those illustrated, but the steps to connect the scanner remain the
same.
1. Attach the modular connector of the Scanner Emulation interface cable to the cable interface port on the scanner (see
Installing the Interface Cable on page 1-4
2. Connect the other end of the Scanner Emulation interface cable to the scanner port on the mobile computer or
controller.
3. Scan the Scanner Emulation host bar code from
host
interface.
4. To modify any other parameter options, scan the appropriate bar codes in this chapter.
Connect the scanner to 5 volt decoders only. Connecting the scanner to a 12 volt decoder can
damage the scanner and invalidate the warranty.
