Instructions for the installer
3.17 - INSTALLATION OF THE EXHAUST
AND AIR INTAKE SYSTEM
NOTICE
Consult local and state codes pertaining to spe-
cial building
code and fire department requirements. Adhere
to national
code requirements.
NOTICE
Observe the listed maximum lengths of vent sy-
stem which are boiler model dependent. The ma-
ximum permissible lenghts are listed at page 26
- 29
Minimum clearance of 4 ft (1.22m) horizontally from, and in no
case above or below, unless a 4 ft (1.22 m) horizontal distan-
ce is maintained, from electric meters, gas meters, regulators
and relief equipment.
The minimum distance from adjacent public walkways, adja-
cent buildings, openable windows and building openings shall
not be less than those values specified in the National Fuel
Gas Code, ANSI Z223.1 / NFPA 54 and / or the Natural Gas
and Propane Installation Code, CAN/CSA B149.1
Do not extend exposed vent pipe outside the building beyond
recommended distance. Condensate could freeze and block
vent pipe.
Vent should terminate at least 3 ft (915 mm) away from adja-
cent walls, inside corners and 5 ft (1525 mm) below roof ove-
rhang (see figure).
it is not recommended to terminate vent above any door or
window, condensate can freeze causing ice formations.
Do not use chimney as a raceway if another boiler or fire
place is vented into or through chimney.

NOTICE
Terminals should be positioned as to avoid pro-
ducts of combustion entering openings into bu-
ildings or other vents.
NOTICE
Terminals should be positioned as to avoid pro-
ducts of combustion entering openings into bu-
ildings or other vents.
NOTICE
Maintain 12" of clearance above the highest anti-
cipated snow level or grade or, whichever is gre-
ater. Please refer to your local codes for the snow
level in your area.
NOTICE
The whole route of the vent system must be in-
stalled upwards, never downwards,
completely nor partly.
NOTICE
The terminal should be located where dispersal
of combustion products is not impeded and with
due regard for the damage or discolouration that
might occur to building products in the vicinity
(see above figure).
In certain weather conditions condensation may
also accumulate on the outside of the air inlet
pipe. Such conditions must be considered and
where necessary insulation of the inlet pipe may
be required.
In cold and/or humid weather water vapor may
condense on leaving the vent terminal. The effect
of such 'water condensation' must be considered.
The terminal must be located in a place not likely
to cause a nuisance.
