SECTION 3:

OPTIONAL INSTALLATION

IR SENSOR/RECEIVER (ISR) RELOCATION

Sometimes having the Integrated Sensor Receiver (ISR) mounted on the
TOPCAT in the center of the room is not the ideal location. Examples of this
are ceilings with beams, HVAC ducts or lighting fixtures that hang below the
ceiling. These obstructions can reduce the performance of the system and cause
audio dropouts. For optimum performance, the ISR should be removed from
the TOPCAT and placed in the room so that there is a direct line-of sight to the
sensor everywhere in the room.
When there are ceiling obstructions, the ISR should be as high as possible,
centered along the longest wall in the room. When possible, use a conduit to
protect the wires (not included). Poor choices for placement are corners, on walls
at heights lower than 7 feet (2 meters), or in places where the line of sight from
the ISR to the receiver is or could be obstructed.

ISR Removal from TOPCAT
The system ISR is shipped mounted to the TOPCAT front panel. For most
installations, it will not need to be moved. However, there are some room
situations where the center of the classroom is not the best location and needs
to be removed from the TOPCAT and installed elsewhere in the classroom. A
separate 50' CAT-5e cable is required to re-locate the ISR (part# CA-P5E50).
1. Remove the ISR
Grasp the ISR on its
two sides
and pull.
Sometimes
the ISR
cover will
come off
before its
body comes
loose. In this
case pull the
ISR's body until it comes
loose.
2. Remove Cable
Disconnect the short CAT-
5e cable from the TOPCAT
and ISR and discard.
