09-040 BRAKE COIL ASSEMBLY
Removal
CAUTION
Do not turn the disk spindle counterclockwise; head
damage can occur.

Set Power to 0 (operator panel).
Set CB 1 off (see paragraph 05-310 for the
location of CB1).
Lock the actuator with the actuator lock " by
moving the handle to ON.
Remove the belt guard by loosening the two
screws. and lift the belt guard off.
Loosen the screws
e
that hold the spindle locking
arm, and slide the locking arm toward the disk
spindle.
Turn the motor pulley clockwise until the stud on
the disk spindle is all the way in the notch in the
locking arm.

Tighten the screws on the spindle locking arm.
Lift the motor and pivot it toward the disk
enclosure to release the tension on the belt, and
remove the belt
e.
Remove the brake wires from the right side of TB 1
o -
terminal 5 (black wire) and terminal 6 (yellow
wire).
10. Remove the cable straps
e
that hold the brake
cable.
11. Remove the screw. that holds the brake
antistatic brush to the brake frame.
12. Remove the three screws
0
that hold the brake
assembly to the motor.
13. Remove the complete brake assembly, (including
the brake pad
0
and spring
0)
from the back of
the motor.
14. To remove the brake coil assembly, remove the
three brake adjustment locking screws
Cit,
and
remove the brake coil assembly from the brake
housing.
