CHAPTER 2 BASIC OPERATION
L. Improper Placement of Originals
An improperly placed original can cause a jam or damage to the original. The machine makes a
check to ensure that all originals are placed properly to prevent jams or damage. The timing of a
check is stored in the microprocessor on the DADF controller, and detection is made in terms of the
presence/absence of paper over a specific sensor.
When the machine detects an improperly placed original, it communicates the fact to its host
copier. (Some copiers show such codes in service mode.)
