Enabling a USB modem connected to the G350
chassis
To enable a USB modem:

Prepare a PC with a CD-ROM drive and a TFTP server on the network. This may be needed for
installing software and firmware upgrades.
NOTE:
When uploading firmware from the S8300 using TFTP, you may need to enable TFTP
service in the Set LAN Security parameters of your web server.
NOTE:
Firmware upgrades for the G350 and media modules can either be installed from CD or
downloaded from the Web.

Download GIW (Gateway Installation Wizard) from the Avaya website
(support.avaya.com/avaygiw) to the laptop computer. The laptop should be running
Windows 2000 or Windows XP to support GIW.

Plug one end of a flat RJ-45 to RJ-45 cable into a DB-9 adapter.

Plug the RJ-45 connector at the other end of the cable into the CONSOLE port of the G350.

Plug the DB-9 end of the flat cable into the COM port of the laptop computer.

From your laptop computer, double-click the GIW icon to run GIW. The Overview screen
appears:
