cool before

maintenance.

heat range can cause engine damage.
For good
performance,
the spark plugs must be properly
gapped
and free of
deposits.

Open the engine
hood
and remove
the spark
plug caps.
Clean
any dirt
from
around
the spark
plug bases.
Use a spark
plug
wrench
to remove
the spark
plugs.

Visually
inspect
the spark
plugs.
Discard
the spark
plugs
if there
is ap-
parent
wear,
or if the insulators
are cracked
or chipped.
Clean the spark
plugs
with
a wire
brush
if they
are to be reused.
Measure
the plug
gaps
with
a feeler
gauge.
The
gaps
should
be
1.0-l
.1
mm
(0.039-0.043
in).
Correct
as
necessary
by carefully
bending
the side electrode.
