Open
the hood,
and check
the battery
electrolyte
level.
The electrolyte
level must be kept between
the UPPER and LOWER limit marks.
IftheelectrolytelevelisneartheLOWERmark,removethebatteryfillercapsand
carefully
add distilled
water to each cell until the liquid
reaches the upper limit
line (see page 61).

Batteries
produce
explosive
gases.
Flames or sparks can cause
an explosion,
causing
serious injury or blindness.
Keep flames
and sparks
away
and provide
adequate
ventilation
when
charging.

CHEMICAL
HAZARD:
Battery
electrolyte
contains
sulfuric
acid.
Con-
tact with eyes or skin, even through
clothing,
may cause severe burns.
Wear
a faceshield
and protective
clothing.
ANTIDOTE:
If electrolyte
gets
into your eyes,
flush
thoroughly
with
warm
water
for at least
15 minutes
and call a physician
immediately.

POISON:
Electrolyte
is poison.
