RS-232 Port Pinout & Connector P-N's
RS-232 PINOUT: The diagram below shows the pin assignments for the RS-232 connector on the DSP-4.
Note that Pin #9 is used for Contact Closure function (normally not used in RS-232).

Balanced connection is recommended for all inputs. The
XLR inputs on the DSP-4 are electronically balanced. Balanced
input cables are recommended to minimize noise pick up and
prevent ground loops.
If constructing your own cables, refer to the pinout, above, for
proper connector wiring.
Unbalanced inputs can be used if required. If unbalanced
audio sources are used, the minus (-) and shield terminals should
be connected with a jumper wire.
However, it is preferable to use an audio transformer (or other
unbalanced-to-balanced "converter") to provide a balanced input
to the DSP-4.
