6. SETUP FLOW FOR FAX FEATURES

Setup Flow for Network-Fax

This equipment provides a N/W-Fax driver that allows users to send a document from the client computers
as a fax or Internet Fax.
Sending a fax can be operated only when optional Fax unit is installed. You can operate the Internet Fax
option without optional Fax unit.
Using the N/W-Fax driver, users can send a document to this equipment as a print job. The receiving fax
numbers (or E-mail addresses) are specified by the user and the equipment then sends the job through the
Public Switched Telephone Network or the Internet.
To send a fax through the Public Switched Telephone Network, users must configure the equipment
accordingly.
When sending an Internet Fax, the equipment sends the document to the SMTP server and transfers it to
the Internet. (A DNS server is required for the SMTP server to transmit the document into the Internet.)
