WARNING
• Do not apply any impact on the installation area of impact sensor.
The air bag might deploy.
• Depending on the severity or the angle of impact, the side air
bag may not deploy.
• Do not bang the door. The side air bag might deploy.
• Even though the front air bags and the pretensioners work at
the same time, the side curtain air bags only deploy in a moder-
ate to severe impact to the middle of the vehicle body's side
structure.

Side Air Bag Operation
Passenger's seat
The air bag inflates when:
• A moderate to severe impact to the middle of the vehicle
body's side structure.
The air bag can inflate when:
• Vehicle rolls onto its side and causes a severe side
Side air
bag impact.
The air bag does not inflate when:
• Frontal collision while vehicle stops or is moving at a low
speed.
Impact sensor
• Rear end collision
• If the severity of impact to the vehicle is not significant.
The air bag seldom inflates when:
• Oblique impact (diagonal direction)
• Frontal impact or rear impact
• Rollover but without a severe impact
• The air bag warning lamp is on
AIR BAG INSPECTION
The air bag system should be inspected 10 years from
its installation regardless of its appearance and other
conditions.
