What is the RoHS Directive?
The RoHS directive (2002/95/EC the Restriction of the use of certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical
and Electronic Equipment) prohibits the sale of electrical and electronic equipment containing hazardous
substances. A list of these hazardous substances includes lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium,
polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenylethers. RoHS affects each and every electronics
manufacturer, directly or indirectly, regardless of geographical location or the equipment they produce.
