Playing Disks in Various Modes
Turning the Subtitles On and Off
While playing a DVD on which subtitles are recorded, subtitles can be turned on and off whenever
desired.
To turn on the subtitles
Press the Subtitle button and cycle through the available subtitles.
To turn off the subtitles
Press the Subtitle button until the subtitle indication is off on the OSD. It is about three seconds before
the change takes effect.
Notes
When playing a DVD on which no subtitles are recorded, subtitles do not appear, even when
l
SUBTITLE button is pressed. An invalid hand sign appears on the screen to indicate that
subtitles are not available.
Depending on the DVD, subtitles may not be activated even if they are recorded on the DVD.
l
Depending on the DVD, subtitles may not be turned off, i.e., a foreign movie made for the U.S.
l
market.
Change the Subtitles
While the DVD is playing, the user may change multilingual subtitles from one language to another
on DVDs with multilingual subtitles recorded on them. When subtitles are turned off, press
Subtitle button to turn on the subtitles.
While playing a DVD, press the Subtitle button repeatedly until the desired subtitle appears on the TV
screen.
Notes
The type and number of language for subtitles varies from disk to disk.

Depending on the DVD, subtitles may not be changeable even if multilingual subtitles are
l
recorded on the DVD.
Depending on the DVD, subtitles may not be able to change to follow the language for the
l
sound, even if AUDIO FOLLOW is displayed.
Changing the Angles
Angles may be changed on DVDs with multiple angles (multi-angles) of a scene recorded on them.
When the ANGLE symbol appears on the screen (check the TV setup menu to turn on/off the angle
symbol),while playing a DVD, press ANGLE button repeatedly to cycle to the various angles; stop
pressing the button whenever the desired angle is found.
Notes
The number of angles varies from disk to disk or from scene to scene. The number of angles
l
that can be changed on a scene depends on the disk.
Depending on the DVD title changing the angles may not be possible even if multi-angles are
l
recorded on the DVD.
