Aerial Effects; Wash Effect - Martin MAC III AirFX User Manual

The MAC III Wash and MAC III AirFX use the same color wheel, but the wheel is installed facing in opposite
directions in the two fixtures. The fixture firmware takes this difference into account so that color filter
selection via DMX is identical in the two fixtures.

Aerial effects

The rotating aerial FX wheel in the MAC III AirFX provides 4 rotating mid-air effect gobos plus an open
position. The gobos installed as standard are shown in Figure 14.
Gobos can be selected, indexed (positioned at an angle), rotated continuously, and shaken (bounced). The
gobo wheel can also be scrolled continuously or shaken. Indexing, continuous gobo rotation, gobo shake
and continuous gobo wheel scrolling are selected on channel 10. Depending on what is selected on this
channel, the indexed angle or rotation speed are set on channel 11. If gobo indexing is selected on the first
channel, fine control of gobo index angle is available on channel 12.
All gobos are interchangeable, but replacement gobos must match the dimensions, construction and quality
of the gobos supplied as standard (see under "Specifications" on page 59). The aerial effect gobos and
goboholders in the MAC III AirFX are not interchangeable with the gobos and goboholders in MAC III Profile
and Performance fixtures.
Handling, installing and storing the gobos in the MAC III AirFX requires special care. See "Aerial effects in

Wash effect

The MAC III AirFX has a Wash effect that can be faded in and out of the beam, softening the projection.
