STARTING THE ENGINE

Always follow the proper starting procedure described below.
This motorcycle is equipped with a side stand ignition cut-off system. The engine cannot be
started if the side stand is down, unless the transmission is in neutral. If the side stand is up,
the engine can be started in neutral or in gear with the clutch lever pulled in. After starting
with the side stand down, the engine will stop if the transmission is put in gear before raising
the side stand.
Never run the engine in an enclosed area. The exhaust contains poisonous carbon
monoxide gas that can cause loss of consciousness and lead to death.
Do not flood the engine by twisting the throttle repeatedly. The carburetor has an
accelerator pump.
NOTE:
Do not use the electric starter for more than 5 seconds at a time. Release the starter
button for approximately 10 seconds before pressing it again.
