Introduction

Lyngdorf TDA 2200 is a compact, high-performance full digital integrated PWM amplifier
developed on the basis of the M2150 and the Lyngdorf Millennium amplifiers. Due to the
switch-mode topology of the output stage, with an efficiency of up to 92%, the TDA 2200
will provide its output power with minimal heat dissipation. A massive power supply with a
650VA toroid transformer and more than 55000uF capacitors ensures that the TDA 2200
can deliver the current to drive even the most demanding loudspeakers.
The TDA 2200 in its default configuration has 5 digital inputs and a stereo analog output
besides the main speaker terminal output. The 5 digital inputs are 3 SPDIF and 1 AES
input on gold plated connectors, all fully balanced, filtered and galvanically isolated from
the external source to maintain highest possible performance even in noisy surroundings.
The fifth input is a high speed Toslink optical interface, all inputs capable of receiving up to
192 kHz samplerate on a single wire. For chaining more than one amplifier in active
systems there is a digital bypass output of the active source.
The Analog output section is a high performance DAC output from the DSP section, using
a Wolfson 8740 DAC which is well known for its rich and natural sound, the reconstruction
sections are fully balanced and based on new generation high-end operational amplifiers
from Texas Instruments the OPA227.
Compared to the M2150 the TDA 2200 has been optimized regarding clock system, DSP
section and performance of the amplifier board. The knowledge from several generations
of amplifier development has been gathered in the TDA 2200 and with the Processor core
of the Millennium MkIII it now stands as a new milestone from Lyngdorf Audio Denmark.
The Amplifier board has been revised and even though it looks familiar to the M2150 the
power supply section has been upgraded and fine tuned to enhance power output and
reduce and linearize distortion which is extremely critical to the human ear. Furthermore
the clock system has been dramatically improved for the TDA2200 compared to the
M2150 which means that the qualities of the Millennium MkIII are now available in the TDA
2200.
All controls can be operated from the front panel via the logical user interface or by use of
the remote control. Or, as an option the setup can be performed via a PC interface and the
Lyngdorf TDA 2200 can be controlled from other Lyngdorf products capable of
broadcasting control codes.
Additionally, TDA 2200 can be equipped with a state-of-the-art A/D module, adding 4 pairs
of analogue inputs (3 x unbalanced, 1 x balanced XLR-3). The input selection is done with
high quality double gold plated signal relays. The input sensitivity of the A/D module can
be adjusted between 0 and -6 dB in the pre-amp section, before the actual converter, thus
providing accurate input sensitivity adjustment per input.
