drives back up when you try to access them. If you would like to change
this setting, go to Advanced Controls -> Tools and click the "Settings"
button. Then use the slider to set the desired time interval for spinning
down the drives.
You can set the indicator lights to full intensity or low intensity. When
your Drobo S's hard drives spin down, the indicator lights automatically
dim. They are visually distinguishable from even the low brightness
setting.
If you are not going to be using your Drobo for an extended period of
time or want to move it to another computer, then it is a good idea to
shut it down. Make sure that no applications on your computer are
using the Drobo by checking the activity light. If applications are using
your Drobo, they may prevent it from properly disconnecting.
1. Open Drobo Dashboard and click the Advanced Controls ->
Tools. Then click the "Standby" button in the Commands
section and wait for the power light to turn orange before
disconnecting the data cable and/or removing power ; or
2. On a PC only, select your Drobo from the "Safely Remove
Hardware" menu in the Windows System Tray. The power light
will turn orange when it is safe to disconnect the data cable
and/or power cord.
Note: It will take a brief time for your Drobo to enter standby mode. The power
light will change from green to orange and the drive bay lights will go off,
indicating it is safe to disconnect the data cable and/or power cord.
